Why colour mandalas?

A mandala is a circular design built out of repeating shapes that radiate from a single centre point. That structure is what makes mandala colouring so calming: there is always an obvious next step, so your hands stay busy while your thoughts slow down. Many colourists describe it as the closest thing to meditation they can do with a pencil in hand.

Because the shapes repeat, you can plan a whole palette before you start, or work outward one ring at a time and let the design tell you where to go next. Either way you finish with something symmetrical and complete — the sort of page people frame or give away.

What's inside the book

125 original mandalas, drawn by hand rather than generated, so no two pages repeat. The designs range from open, generous shapes you can fill in an evening to dense, finely detailed rings that reward an hour or two of quiet attention — good if you are new to mandala colouring and want to work your way up.

Every page is printed single-sided on thick paper, so pencils, gel pens and fineliners do not show through and finished pages tear out cleanly for framing. The large square format leaves plenty of margin for your hand.

Who it suits

Adults looking for a screen-free way to wind down at the end of the day, anyone easing back into a creative habit, and colourists who prefer pure pattern work over pictures. It also makes a straightforward gift: pair it with a set of pencils and it needs no explanation.
